Your Screen Name, Email, and Password

User Info

Your Screen Name you choose will be whatever your type in here. Most people use nicknames, but you do have to enter something. I have heard the point of view that you should not use your real name just for security purposes. I have also heard the opposite. I use my real name nowdays but I also have other "nicks" or identities. If you are in a community and you change your screen name - you must exit and re-enter the community for anyone to see the change in name.

You should enter a real Email Address in here. The kind of email account you will want to use is NOT web-based email. The ideal set up is if you use your ISP's email account in order to use PowWow to its fullest potential. In my case, I called my ISP and asked them to help me set up my email, and they had Help Desk support to walk me through configuring my Outlook Express. See Mail. It is still possible to use one account for your PowWow Email Address and use another for mail send and recieve, but this is the address which everyone can see.

Your Password should not be the same as the password you use for your email account itself. It should be something that no one can guess for your security. Do not use nicknames as passwords or dates or easily guessed syntax. Remember your Password and write it down. The "Save Password" is to save you the trouble of re-entering your password every time you logon to PowWow.
